VOL. 1 (A Letter Before the Road) Hola Brothers and Sisters, and welcome to my little piece of the web. This column will (hopefully) be a regular feature here. I guess you would say that I am your typical, 18 year old guy who leads a less than typical life. I am beginning a journey, that is partially spiritual, partially recreation and even a little educational. For those of you who know me I don't need to explain why I travel but for those of you who don't, I have this problem called chronic itchy feet. Which basically means that I can't stay in one place for more then a month or two max. This has caused many problems in my life. As you may imagine it is really hard to keep a relationship while I'm on the road and my partner is at home. So therefore I'm single which in a way is a good thing and in a way is a bad thing. But on the other hand my parents are pretty straight edged people who believe that the "All American" Way of life is the only way, and that you can only be a happy and successful person if you have a huge education and a great job. Personally I don't see the point of going to school for 14-20 years of your life. Then working your ass off for the next 45 years with the hopes that someday you can retire if the government hasn't blown your pension so that you can enjoy the final 15-25 years of your life in reasonable comfort. No thanks! I'd personally much rather travel the world and learn about many different cultures, and maybe start a commune or a farm somewhere. Sure I may not make 100,000 dollars a year but I bet I would be a lot healthier and stress free. I have planned not to plan much of this trip at all except for minimal details, such as I will be leaving sometime in the next 3 weeks and that It will probably take the better part of 1-3 years and include most of North, South, and Central America and who knows where else. I spoke to a sister on the internet who planned on joining me for at least a part of this journey, but I haven't heard from her in a while so I am hoping to hear from her before I leave. You may be curious as to where I am going, well to be honest so am I, Probably one of the warm states for a little bit, until I get my passport mailed to me, then probably down to Mexico until it gets a little warmer up in Oregon, etc. I also plan to be at the Rainbow Gathering this year. But that's about as far as I have planned. I would be interested in hearing suggestions of places to go and people to visit, (My e-mail is at the end of the column) As far as packing goes I have done it 3 times over making sure I don't forget anything too important, But chances are I will, and since I haven't gotten into that horrible habit of planning ahead. So I guess I'm pretty prepared and ready to go when ever the breeze blows my way, and I look forward to keeping you all updated with my journey and all kinds of crazy stories that are bound to happen along the way. The others will have much more interesting things then this the first one I promise. Peace Love & Light Turtle I can be reached for questions, comments,
