Interview with Huey P. Newton (1968)
Category: Archives
This interview took place in 1968 while Huey Newton was in jail, after the attack by police on Black Panther headquarters that killed several panthers. It reveals much about the psychology and tactics of the Panthers. They nearly sparked a race war if not a revolution, and their militancy was an inspiration to many others to become more active and militant. (Read More)

To My Black Brothers In Vietnam (1970)
Category: Archives
This statement was written during the peak of the Black Power movement, and a critical time for the Black Panthers when many of their leaders were in jail or being tracked down and killed by the "pigs".
As you can see they were advocating the overthrow of the US government which they saw as racist and oppressing the people around the world. The most interesting aspect of this is how many black, ex-G.I.s were leaders in the Black Panther party.
The Black Panthers were well armed and trained by the U.S. government, hence they represented a true threat to the status quo, and had to be eliminated by the white dominated power structure.
Yet they left an indelible mark upon American society, and came close to inciting a real revolution!
The Black Panthers not only gave voice to the more militant elements of Black society, but they instilled pride amongst the black people, and established many community outreach programs that benefited many people who had been marginalized by American society's emphasis on white culture and discrimination towards minorities.
