Living on The Earth by Alicia Bay Laurel. The early '70s was a time of great optimism (and despair in true Dickens fashion). Everywhere people were experimenting with alternative lifestyles, leaving the cities and heading back-to-nature. Communes were popping up all over and those returning to the land had to learn fast the art of survival. With impeccable timing and the feeling that a guide to this new/old way of life was needed, Alicia Bay Laurel wrote "Living on The Earth", an invaluable resource for those seeking to live in harmony with Mother Nature.

Comment: i''m sorry about maxx''s plight but i don''t necessarily think a book review forum is the place to vent a personal grudge. perhaps a disgruntled hippy forum would best suit maxx''s needs. thanks.
and i wanted to add that the book is a marvellous read. i came across it at a friend''s place the other week and spent a good amount of time reading it. each page made me exclaim to someone else about the neat stuff contained within- it also inspired some of the "lost" creativity in me. beautiful drawings... beautiful message.

Comment: I was really happy to see Living on the Earth on your list. It''s a shame someone had to spoil my delight by airing their dirty laundry in a totally unappropropriate place. Shame on you!

Comment: If Skip Stone, isn'' that a cute name, actually believed in the of the he would not readily back away from its foundations, e.g., that is to say that he changes the Sites Guidelines to suit his own purposes; or if he feels threatened. He does not give his victims a chance to speak for themselves.
I gave my all to this site, going on three years, and maybe we did not get along all of the time, however I was de-moted from the standing of a Moderator, which was hard won, to simply a member after one incident. Skip, din''t chastize the other Member & Moderator, who actually began the dispute, he let her go. She seems to be his flavor of the month, or probably all time. Skip did not follow his own Guideline''s and warn me of coming Banishment, it simply happened. I''d been helping to which I have many e-mails from Skip Stone to I and none of these will ever be seen.
He accused me of beginning a distrupting source on the site and this is totally false.
I had a following but according to the rules of the Hipplanet Site they are not alowed to voice an opinion of my banishment.
Is this free speech? Well, I for one do not think it is.
It is not the type of Hippidom I grew with, and I am slightly older than Skip. If you wish to see some nice sites go to VBulletin and follow the markers, then you''ll understand how pathetic this particular place has become.
I did not think this before. I assisted as much as I was able and what I received I did not deserve.
A Bannished Moderator and Member.
