Long an escape for the gringos, still an interesting country to visit from Baha to the Yucatan, lots of places to explore and hang out.

Comment: Does anyone know anything about the country in Mexico south of Oaxaca city? We might check out Miahuatlan de Porfirio Diaz for a while. Ever been? What''s it like? We have kids. Cool stuff to do? Only 4 hours from the beach. Responses to h2ostuhr@yahoo.com

Comment: I hear so many extremely negative comments from friends and the U.S. Government sites (even) about how violent and corrupt Mexico is. Also that they''ll throw your ass in the clink for months for relatively harmless crimes...even worse than here in America. Yet, here are these comments sounding for all the world to hear, like Mexico is a sweet and happy place. Wheeee!
So, what''s really going on?

Comment: Yelapa is a peninsula off the coast near Puerto Vallarta. You ned to take a boat to get there. Once there, there is a whole community of hippy gringos. Live on the beach or in the woods for cheap!

Comment: Tepoztlan... If you''re in the Mexico City area theres a great little town less that an hour away. It''s in a very natual setting at the foot of towering cliffs. There is a small temple at the top (quite the strenuous hike) that gives supurb views of the pueblo and far beyond. It can be visited heavilyfrom D.F. on the weekends, but offers much tranquility durring the week. Pulque, an alchoholic drink of the Aztecs is still made there. The energy I feel arriving to this pueblo has brought me back many times.

Comment: Mexico has some awesome attractions. If you''re down south check out Tulum. For a reasonable price you can rent a rustic cabaña on the beach and hang out with other hippies.

In central Mexico there''s Oaxaca. Famous for its shrooms, black pottery and delicious food.
