Kitchener Ontario Canada - "Hippies roam the streets of Kitchener and especially Cambridge. We are up there along with the freaks and jocks, geeks and the boring ones. Hippies are the best, with our butterfly shirts and bell-bottoms, we have our own twists to the 60's fashions."

In response another visitor wrote: "Thought I'd add a note to what our obviously young friend above has said, the scene here is extremely diversified, there is much to do see and experience. I have jokingly referred to Kitchener for years as the Berkley of Canada. For some strange reason this little city is a drawing card for hippies. But don't show up expecting chaos and revolution in the air, because for the ten years I've lived here, most of what I've seen is behind the scenes, although the older hippie and deadhead community here threw some of the biggest bashes going."

Comment: I live in cambridge and theres a lot of hippys. Not only do a lot of them oppose the war in Iraq and other things but a lot of people smoke pot, young and old.

Comment: I was in a (hippie)Cafe here in the US the other night, discussing the Iraq war after a very enlightening presentation on said war. I made the comment that if GWB was re-elected I was LEAVING the US (my family has been here since 1726)! The dude next to me said "where will you go, Canada?" I said "Maybe". He said "They will reject you, and you can thank all those (idiots) who flooded them before you". What''s his deal?

Comment: hmm...I have lived in Kitchener, and Cambridge..neither compare in "hippiedom" to Thunder Bay, or any other Northern city I''ve been to anywhere in the country. "Hippies"--real, and moderized--tend to dwell in areas close to nature...makes sense I''d say..though the more "hippie" type of people the better I say...."change the vision, change the world"--Daniel Quinn

Comment: I have never heard anything about Kitchener being a hippie haven. Guelph, yes definatley--but not Kitchener and certainly not Cambridge!
