Hmmmmm I had a little trouble voting on this one, I at least partially agreed with many answers. Out of all my choices I finally decided to select "It's all part of the play". You could call me a conspiracy theorist since to a certain degree I believe the US political ring allowed this tragedy to occur. And IF they didn't, they are at least a little happy it did. Think about it, who was the idiot one year ago? That's right it was Bush the idiot. Who's the idiot now? That's right it's not Bush, it's some terrorist we are to believe is responsible for the attacks. Bush owns the US with an iron fist now. He can't be defeated! And unlike his father who ended his middle east war, Bush Sr.'s war can last FOREVER. How do you rid the planet of terrorists? hahaha I can't believe people think it can be done. With billions of people out there you have to expect at least fanatical idiots will always exist. Oh and as far 9/11 goes, it really pisses me off when I hear people say "Die Osama Die!" It is so funny how gullible people are. The US media could say anything and you'd believe it. YOU HAVE NO IDEA IT WAS OSAMA'S DOINGS YOU BELIEVE IT BECAUSE YOU'RE TOLD IT. You trust filtered information. You believe in propagated material. You are easily coercised, you are highly suggestable, and you are blind to your manipulation. It is not just me that knows this, it is your entire governing body. It's all part of the play....you're damn right it is.

I really really am amazed that the people in the States only feel sorry for themselves and don'tt even think for a moment why WHY the States are hated so much worldwide. That such a thing was going to happen was predictable and really, of course terror is bad, and killing people makes no sence at all, bu I think the USA need to wake up and see that they're not alone on this planet, they don't own the planet so the have no right at all to rule it as if they do. Hundreds of people die every day because of poverty, worldwide, in the states as welll, just to keep the extreme rich elite alive. But the mentality of the yanks hasn'tt changed a bit, it has even become worse. Maybe it'll take some more terror attacks before something will change. I hope that won't be necessary, of course, but that Bush should get back to his farm and play with his toy-army and let some sensable people do the real thinking and acting. The earth does not belong to us, we belong to the earth and all humans are brother. And with your brothers you share.

I would just like to say that although it wasn't our fault that we got terrorized, it is our fault that we got attacked. The United States government should've taken a clue when the World Trade Center was bombed in '93. If they would've taken extra precautions and strengthened out security then, we probably wouldn't have gotten attacked September 11th. I guarantee you.

just out of curiosity, how well do YOU know Osama? You don't know if what the media tells us is crap or for real. We don't know what Osama is doing so we don't know if the media is right or if it is completely wrong. Either way innocent people died because others can't accept or have an understanding for those different than they. I don't know what happened, most of us don't. All we can do is act upon this wake-up call and take advantage of the world-wide compassion and togetherness that has come out of it. Maybe it will only last a short time or maybe this new-found brotherly-love will stick around. All we can do is play our part. You can sit there and be bitter about the whole thing but what does that accomplish? Let's move on with our lives.

In a way the whole 9/11 incident is a lot like the bombing of Pearl Harbor. FDR, back in the 40's, wanted to get involved in WW2 for economic reasons; primarily to keep trading ties to Britian strong; but couldn't because a majority of the citizens would not support a war the U.S. was not directly involved in. The Japanese had a code which the U.S. broke that was to be the code the Japs would say when they were to attack. East Wind Rain was the code and the U.S. heard them say it days before the attack. So what did we do? We drained all the fuel from our jet fighters and the only 2 ships capable of defending an attack mysterioulsy left Pearl Harbor. So we got attacked, couldn't defend ourselves and it all appeared to be a sneak attack. FDR got his majority vote to declare war and almost all the citizens followed him. How does this play into 9/11? The U.S. has had problems with the middle east for a while now but the citizens here didn't want to get involved with the Middle East because they had no reason too. The East also has the majority of the worlds oil and conflicts between the U.S. and the East has made oil harder to come by. The governments answer to these problems is always to use force, but the majority of citizens did not want to get involved with the East. What better way to get the citizens involved than letting them think they were brutally attacked. Which we were, and I may be wrong but I think the government knew something about it but needed our support for economic reasons; and this is the kind of thing that gets peoples support. Just don't believe everything the government tells you, 'cause they're smart and they know how to fool us, they did it before.

I've been getting a lot of crap about this from people. Personally I think that it's just plain sad that it took almost 4000 innocent lives to make America unite under the same flag, and yet we still aren't united. There's still hate in this world, especially in America, despite September 11th. If people would open their eyes a bit more and realize that 1) Bin Laden might not even be responsible for the whole mess and 2) that the only thing the 'war on terror' is is nothing but an excuse for little Bush-y to blow things up. Most of these americans are after blood for what happened. Yes innocent people were killed at WTC, but does that mean that WE have to go off and kill three times that number in the hunt for one person we're not even sure is responsible?

There is proof in a conspiracy of at least deliberate neglect by the U.S. State department and its many political and covert intelligence agencies. They simply left the door open to the chicken coop, knowing darn well that it would be a matter of time before the fox would eventually come in. And of course when it did finally happen now they can take advantage of the publics anger and fear to further fund and empower the already corrupt and powerful top-secret institutions. The people needs to wake up and realize that these covert agencies main line of operations are to dependent on information from underworld operatives who practically are bribed for their activity and support. How reliable and accurate such information is and the criminal operatives are that supplies it is always questionable. Our way of life is not served or protected at all by such clandestine networks. Would you hire the neighborhood thug to pet sit at your house while you are away? So this ludicrous propaganda that we need to further over fund and equip super secret groups and agencies is a ridiculous request. Even the most honest night watchman may tend to become less able if there are no avenues of accountability to whomever such a watchman is protecting. Lets be realistic here, you hire a guard, give him access to your check book, house and everything personal without question, and everything he does and not do is top secret and can't be questioned because it's for your protection! Sure there are some things for rare situations that shouldn't be common knowledge but the less the better and no organization that operates in the so called public behalf should be left completely alone with hardly any accountability to the publics scrutiny. Historically without exception such groups have always lent themselves to be tools of the authority against the welfare of the people. They have a strong tendency for corruption and to enforce policies that undermine the society rather than protect it. Their budgets would be better spent on just simple solutions such as reinforced plane cockpit doors and better training and pay for the non top-secret security guards at the airports. That solution is many times cheaper than this super homeland defense initiative and you can monitor and hold the non top-secret airport guards accountable for all their professional duties.
We as a nation do not have any enemies that formidable to justify such a large investment in multiple covert agencies that has proven to end up equipping, training and financing both directly and indirectly future adversaries. A friendly hoodlum is not a reliable ally. Just like common mercenaries there goals and interests may and do change for any reasons. The U.S state department and its covert operations have not learned this basic lesson yet. A foreign policy based mostly and only on our ideals represented by our Constitution would do much more that military force, especially the covert wings of it. The more our society moves towards fascism, feudalism and authoritarianism, the more we give justification to all the other despotic tyrannical fiends on the planet. They simply point out how hypocritical we are and to not try to impose our values on them since we can't live up to them ourselves. The September 11th was a terrible example of the covert guards falling asleep at the post and now asking for much more support, money and confidence from the public! Please!! Keep in mind that those suicidal fanatics that boarded the airplanes all had an intelligence file taller than the world trade buildings they destroyed and even the dullest witted person should be suspicious of something smelly behind the wood works. Historically it is not unusual for rulers to allow a tragic sacrificial lamb of tragic proportioned to happen in order to spur their subjects to war. No I don't begin to think that the terrorist attacks were a set up, but if someone leaves the chicken coop door open on purpose what do you think such a person is wanting to happen? It has been common knowledge for a long time about the bas

Plz...before the incident in Sept the military industrial complex that is fast becomin the US had no enemies....can u imagine that ...no excuse to divert billions of dollars from healthcare or education into the pockets of the corpoations ?
Well now that was pretty convenient.....
Now can u imagine all that oil just lyin there in the central asian republics ?
Now the Bush Family Album.
How did george junior manage to reap the best that society can offer ?
Why thru oil money of course
And if im 2 cynical, then imagine yourself as a citizen of an oil rich middle eastern state like iran in the 1950 s you have just elected a democratic goverment that looks towards the USSR for inspiration .At last you might share in the wealth of your countries oil.
Then the Cia comes along and replaces your chosen goverment with a dictator more sympathetic to the west, namely the Shah.
All opposition is banned all political parties are outlawed , the only thing remaining is the islamic clergy.
Opposition grows to the Shah and in time as is it is the only opposition the islamic clergy becomes a force for revoltionary change.
The shah is overthrown and iran becomes a islamic state .
Muslims all over the world look around at the societies in which they live philipines indonesia and there is no political conduit but the islamic faith .
That is how u turn a religious movement into a dangerous terrorist organisation by denying oppressed people no alternative .
I was horrified when i visited the States ,this was the country that gave me hope ,a youth culture that i had identified with ,in reality ,the vast magority of people i found apathetic, ignorant that in the 80 s 30000 nicaraguans had died at the hands of american trained and equipped terrorists and that in Chile (like iran) a democratic goverment had replaced with a US backed military dictatorship that would kill 50000 .
If u believe that terrorism is wrong then look to your own goverments deeds and also look a little deeper at the motives of the goverment in whipping up popular hysteria....read the history of germany post first world war ,the parellels are chilling !

At 50 I have lived different lifestyles and taken many things from each one. I have come to the conslusion that no government is perfect no matter what the theology is. I choose to live in the U.S. because I love my country. I know my President is not perfect, but I am glad he is a leader and is leading. I do feel that when my country or myself is attacked it should be defended.
With the first ammendment intact our freedom to write here is unaffected, it's great to be free. It's nice to have a few luxuries. A lot of immigrants come to this country because we are sucessfull and they want to be part of it.
I feel with the trouble of 9/11 all immigration should stop, people with expired visas deported and the criteria for coming here tightened up. Without sounding to harsh, if the country is so bad and you don't like it here, please find another place to live.
This is not Vietnam or anything like it. I am German, English, Blackfoot and Cherokee. I love this country and want to see it progress forward and with positive actions. I do not believe in cowardness or any process that undermines our President. Remember we could've had Gore in there, then we would all have something to be ashamed about as cowards.
